1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember who you are, keep you logged in, and — for some optional features — remember your preferences or allow embedded content from another site to work.

2. The Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary (always on)

• Session cookie — keeps you logged in as you move between pages.
• CSRF protection token — a security measure that prevents a malicious site from submitting forms on your behalf.
• Cookie consent preference — remembers the choice you make in our cookie banner, so we don't ask again every visit.

These cannot be switched off, because the site cannot function without them.

Functional (optional)

• Language preference — remembers which language you've selected.
• Google Maps — if the site operator has enabled Google Maps (instead of the default map, which uses OpenStreetMap and sets no tracking cookie), viewing a map on a school or business page loads Google's own map tile service, which sets its own cookies.

Third-Party Embedded Content (optional)

School, PTO, and district Media galleries can include videos or social posts shared from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, X (Twitter), Instagram, or Facebook. These are never loaded automatically — only when you click to play one — and once loaded, that provider may set its own cookies, exactly as if you'd visited their site directly. A bot-protection challenge (Cloudflare Turnstile) may also appear on public forms (registration, login, contact) to prevent spam and automated abuse; this is treated as part of the same optional/functional category where it sets a cookie.

3. Managing Your Preferences

The first time you visit, a cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject Non-Essential, or open Manage Preferences to choose category-by-category. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page.

4. Browser Controls

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies directly in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or submitting forms; blocking functional or third-party embedded content cookies simply means those specific features (the map, or a specific video/post) won't load until you allow them.
